Agave ImagesSometimes, while traveling to observe Opuntia, many other interesting plants are found. This page provides links to unedited, very large image files of Agave plants in the wild. Folder 1: just south of Carlsbad, NM, a few miles east of Hwy. 180/82 on County Road 408, 2-5 miles (2006) Folder 2: just south of Carlsbad, NM, just 1-3 miles north of White's City (Hwy. 180 at Hwy. 7), on west side of Hwy. 180/82, 10 feet from traffic (2006) Folder 3: on Hwy. 180/82 (south of Carlsbad, NM), headed south, just inside Texas from New Mexico, multiple agaves and bloom stalks visible for 2-3 miles along roadside, both sides of road (close to Texas-New Mexico border) (2006) Folder 4: on Hwy. 180/82, in Texas, various places east and west of Cornudas, TX, sometimes Agave bloom stalks can be seen, very xeric land, very sparce. Sometimes in limestone with Echinocactus horizonthalonius (2006) Folder 5: Agave species, near Bagdad, AZ and/or Kingman, AZ. Plants were observed in rocky soils, usually above 3,500 ft. elevation; plants were blooming sporadically in late June, 2009.
