Introduction<\/h2>\n

Quiver trees are tall, stately plants, ultimately reaching 10\u201325 ft. They grow naturally in northwestern South Africa and in southern and central Namibia. Quiver trees are well adapted to dry places.<\/p>\n

The Details<\/h3>\n

These trees are known as quiver trees because the San people once used the tree\u2019s hollowed branches as quivers to carry arrows.<\/p>\n

They usually grow in rocky, mountainous areas or on sandy plains. Like other aloes, quiver trees are succulents that store water in their stems and leaves. Until recently, they were considered a species of Aloe (Aloe dichotoma), but they are now placed in the closely related genus Aloidendron (Aloidendron dichotomum).<\/p>\n
